Cave Jean-Louis Mathieu

Chalais

Originally from Albinen, (photo above source Valais4you) near Loèche-Les-Bains, the Mathieu family has been cultivating vines for several decades. Just imagine that, in the past, people used to climb from Leukerbad to Albinen using vertiginous ladders.... It's with this same spirit, this same struggle, that I cultivate my vines and produce my wines today.

Domaine Mathieu's mission is to raise wines of excellence with a focus on quality, through production and winemaking processes that respect nature. Its bold goal is to become a certified sustainable winery by 2027, demonstrating its long-term commitment to eco-responsible practices.

Following values focused on responsibility and sustainability, the winery combines finesse in the elaboration of its vintages with a strong social and environmental commitment. Its clear commitment is based on innovation in viticulture and oenology.

Sustainable strategic intent:

- Our mission: To highlight the wines produced by Domaine Mathieu, by communicating and raising awareness of the quality brought to the elaboration of vintages, within an environmentally-friendly framework.

- Our vision: To become a committed, certified sustainable winegrower by 2027.

- Our values: Authenticity, conviviality, modernity, short circuits, respect for the environment, responsible governance.

Responsible commitments:
- Adherence to the Saint-Théodule charter, with the aim of enhancing, promoting and defending the quality products of the Valais winemaker-winemaker, while respecting nature.
- Total affiliation of the vineyard to integrated production in a process of organic conversion of the estate.
- Participation in a social program to integrate refugees into Swiss society.
- Contribution to the circular economy by reusing biomass within the vineyard.
