Guided tour of the exhibition "Marguerite Vallet-Gilliard Le fil de la mémoire"
Guided tour as part of a temporary exhibition.
"Le fil de la mémoire" presents the work of the artist Marguerite Vallet, née Gilliard (1888-1918), first wife of the painter Edouard Vallet. The exhibition reveals a selection of paintings - genre scenes, landscapes and portraits - from private and public collections. A few engravings and drawings punctuate the exhibition, offering a glimpse of the diversity of mediums practiced by Marguerite Vallet. Archival documents (notebooks, notes and photographs) also reveal the artist's personality, interests and passions. The exhibition is organized in several thematic sections: Youth works; Motherhood, beyond stereotypes; The madness of colors; and, The thread of memory. The exhibition also brings together, two women, two artists, born a century apart. The contemporary artist Katerina Samara (*1988) revisits the memory of her elder sister and proposes a new look at her creation.
