Meeting with the author Mélanie Richoz & Reading session / Vercorin
At La Véranda, meet Mélanie Richoz and participate in a reading session. (in French)
In her latest book published by Editions Slatkine "Contre-La-Montre" Mélanie Richoz offers us the biography of a high-flying athlete and paraplegic, Jean-Marc Berset.
"They live in the same street, they crossed paths but only knew each other by sight. They both live in Bulle. He ran the family bakery. She is an occupational therapist and above all she writes. Mélanie Richoz has writing written in her body, suspended in her breath, and that is how one day the idea came to her to lend her pen to this man she saw regularly and who inspired her: Jean-Marc Berset.
He was 23 years old when his life was turned upside down in a car accident. The diagnosis is implacable: the young man will remain a paraplegic. Far from resigning himself, he got married, took over his father's bakery and repaired himself through sport. Athletics in a wheelchair, then handbike, he collected medals at the world championships and Paralympic Games.
The evening will be led by Marlène Zufferey, cultural journalist.
A small snack will be served after the event.
