10 - Passing by the beehives

The bee trail begins at Vercorin and ends in the mid-alpine pastures of Les Tsablos near the beehives belonging to Gilbert Duruz. This route provides information about the life of bees, beekeeping and apitherapy.
The trail starts from the cable car station, and climbs a further 140 metres (allow approximately half an hour's walking) before reaching the bisse (irrigation channel).
The "Passing by the beehives" trail is part of an educational trails project entitled "From Chalais to the chalets".

The Vercorin bee trail runs along the Bisse de Vercorin, from the Bisse de Savannes Bellecrête as far as the Les Tsablos apiary, a distance of 2.8 km. It enables walkers to discover the amazing world of honey bees through a series of information boards aimed at visitors of all ages.

The trail starts at the end of the Bisse de Vercorin. To reach it, take the Route de Tracuit (a little street on the southern side of the village), then follow the special signs to the trail (20-30 minutes' walk uphill).

Guided tours of the apiary are available on Saturday mornings in June, July and August from 09:00 to 12:00, by prior arrangement with the owner, Gilbert Duruz, tel. 0041 (0)79 212 40 50.
