Hunting season is open, information on areas and periods

The hunting season is open in Vercorin and throughout the Valais. As every year, it is strictly regulated to ensure the balance of wildlife and the safety of residents.

Hunts take place from September to November, depending on the species concerned (roe deer, red deer, wild boar, chamois). Each category of animal has its own calendar, set by the State of Valais.

High hunting season: 15 to 28 September

Hunting takes place in the forests and mountain pastures around Vercorin. Areas close to the village, main roads and nature reserves remain off-limits. Signs indicate the areas concerned on hunting days.

Some recommendations for walkers:

- Stay on the marked trails.
- Avoid hiking in areas marked as ‘battue en cours’ (hunting in progress).
- Remain visible in the forest.
