From 7 July to 15 September 2024, the Edouard Vallet Foundation in Vercorin presents its new summer exhibition: Edouard Vallet. Impressions
Following the publication at the end of 2023 of the catalogue raisonné of Edouard Vallet's graphic work, the summer exhibition organised by the Edouard Vallet Foundation in Vercorin highlights this aspect of his work.
A representative selection of the various techniques used by the artist (etching, xylography, lithography) is presented to the public, who can also discover his work from Geneva, which is often less well known.
Edouard Vallet's etchings from the Valais are widely known and form a chapter in the history of Swiss engraving. However, they represent only part of his printed work, which includes woodcuts, lithographs and illustrations. The aim of the exhibition is therefore to reveal lesser-known aspects of the artist's work, without forgetting the most famous engravings that built his reputation.
The exhibition will be accompanied by a number of cultural events, including a vernissage on Saturday 6 July at 4pm, two public guided tours on 14 July and 3 August at 5pm, a demonstration of engraving on Edouard Vallet's press on Saturday 20 July from 2.30pm, and a reading of extracts from his correspondence by actor Jérôme Pannatier, with commentary by curator Jean-Charles Giroud, on Saturday 10 August at 5pm.
