Valiant GP

The downhill bike racing series for children and young people.

Nowadays, children are introduced to cycling much earlier than in the past. As a result, their enthusiasm and skill levels are higher than ever. In Switzerland, however, there is a lack of opportunities for these motivated and technically gifted young cyclists. This is one of the reasons why Swiss riders struggle to make their mark in the Downhill World Cup. We want to remedy this situation with the “Valiant GP” and lay the foundations for future riders.
At the qualifying races taking place across Switzerland, the three fastest children in each category can qualify for the final. There are five categories from U5 to U13, with separate races for girls and boys.

The HOT-TRAIL Swiss Downhill Cup, which has been touring Switzerland since 2020, serves as a model for the “Valiant GP”. The introduction of the under-15 category in the cup ensures a seamless progression for young riders.
Programme:
- Registration and collection of race numbers at Lavioz: 7.30 am – 9.00 am
- Training for all categories: 7.30 am – 9.45 am
U5: GREEN start (no cable car ascent)
U7, U9: BLUE start (cable car access available)
U11, U13 and U15: RED start (cable car access available)
- The Vercorin–Crêt-du-Midi cable car opens at 8.15 am; free access for participants (paying for accompanying adults)
- 1st race: 10.00 am–11.15 am
- 2nd race: 11.30 am–12.45 pm
- Results at 1 pm on the Plouf Festival stage at Lavioz
