Don Quixote

Don Quixote and his ill-fated quest on the big screen

Vercorin

Why does the legend of Don Quixote seem to bring bad luck to the cinema? Conductor and film music specialist Patrick Crispini presents a fascinating talk, interspersed with film clips, followed by a raclette.

Why do even the greatest film directors find it so difficult to bring Don Quixote to the screen? For decades, Cervantes’ masterpiece seems to have been dogged by a veritable cinematic curse, with film shoots cut short, productions abandoned and projects that have become the stuff of legend.

Through a lecture richly illustrated with film clips, Patrick Crispini, conductor and specialist in film music, invites you to explore the behind-the-scenes story of this fascinating ‘cursed quest’. An opportunity to discover the links between literature, cinema and music, whilst looking back at some of the most memorable – or most eventful – adaptations in the history of cinema.

The evening will continue with a raclette served after the lecture.
