The church in Vercorin, whose bell tower and Romanesque chancel were built in the 12th century, has been altered over the years. In Vallet’s time, it had a nave which was demolished in the mid-1960s during the construction of the new church, whose stained-glass windows were designed by Albert Chavaz.
The sense of harmony emanating from this building and its adjoining cemetery could not fail to inspire our two artists, who depicted it on numerous occasions in engravings, paintings and drawings. There is a painted version which you can admire at the BAT Immobilier offices (Route de Chalais 2) during opening hours.
