The Edouard Vallet Foundation presents its new summer exhibition: Marguerite and Edouard Vallet-Gilliard. Itinéraires valaisans.
From Riod to Savièse, via Sion and Vercorin, the Edouard Vallet Foundation's 2025 exhibition invites visitors to immerse themselves in the peaceful yet dynamic daily lives of Geneva-based artists who settled in Valais during the first quarter of the 20th century.
Enriched by painted and engraved works, archival sketches, notes and photographs, the Foundation's various spaces offer a visual narrative of the individual and shared histories of Marguerite Vallet-Gilliard (1888-1918) and Edouard Vallet (1876-1929) in the Hérens, Savièse, Anniviers and Rhône plain regions. What was their daily life like as a couple of professional artists? How did they combine their private and professional lives? How did their careers evolve through contact with the Valais and regional motifs? Did they influence each other's practices and, above all, what were their links with the Valais before they met?
Cultural mediation events accompany the exhibition:
