Vercorin is the home of the Edouard Vallet Foundation, and a place of remembrance and exhibition for the works of Edouard Vallet and Marguerite Vallet-Gilliard.
The artist couple bought the house (now the foundation) in Vercorin in 1912. After Édouard's death in 1929, it remained in the family. Since 2013, following restoration and refurbishment, exhibitions have been held here every summer.
Born into a family of artists, Marguerite began her career at an early age. At the age of 16, her talent was recognized at the Salon d'Automne in Paris, and two years later she became its youngest member. Marguerite Gillard-Vallet did not have time to make her works known. Death came swiftly, when she was only 30. In those days, it was not uncommon for women to die in childbirth. Sadly, Marguerite had abandoned her passion for painting to devote herself solely to her family.
In 2022, the Foundation dedicated its summer exhibition to her.
